Sophie Grant

Advisor

Sophie is a communications leader with nine years' experience shaping communications architecture to drive systems change. She has crafted communications strategies for governments, UN initiatives, mission-led businesses and NGOs.

As a freelance senior consultant for sustainability and social impact organisations, she designs and delivers communications in service of human and planetary rights. Her mission is 'sensemaking': turning evidence, data and ideas into campaigns that shift policy, move capital and change minds. She specialises in PR and media, but works on strategic communications, social media, web design, video and brand messaging too.

She brings extensive experience as a trusted advisor to senior leaders in politically-sensitive environments — including CEOs, academic leaders, Secretaries of State and the UN Secretary-General — taking a pragmatic and thoughtful approach to complex challenges.

Before becoming a consultant, she worked as a civil servant under four governments, advising Cabinet ministers and policy leaders on communications strategy on issues of national importance including water sector reform, drought and air quality. This included advising Secretaries of State on national media appearances, coordinating with environmental regulators and leading a high-performing team to deliver national campaigns that drove front page coverage, shifted public perception and built parliamentary credibility.

Before that she worked for agencies crafting communications for organisations including the UN's Science Based Targets initiative, the FAIRR Initiative and climate data organisation CDP. Outside of her professional life she is an avid gardener, wild swimmer and loves spending time in nature.
